That’s why my sunflower minis are simply blooming good fun.
Whatever you’ve got planned this summer from seaside trips to summer fetes, adding a frolic in the sunflower fields is something you MUST put on your summer holiday bucket list!
These gorgeous happy flowers are in full bloom in the second half of summer, peaking in the month of August and are one of my favourite (and most popular) sessions to shoot!
Taken with a breath-taking backdrop of towering sunflowers, these mini sessions are bright, happy, and absolutely bursting with colour!
Sunflower Mini Sessions Guaranteed to Make You Smile
Who wouldn’t love to be in a field full of cheery sunflowers?
Sunflower mini sessions are great for families with little ones. They are a fabulous place to get relaxed, happy photos of the kids running through the rolling fields, and peeking out from behind big, beautiful sunflowers. The wide- open space is ideal for little adventurers with oodles of energy! It is the epitome of carefree sun-kissed summer happiness!
Blooming sunflower fields also offer a brilliant backdrop for maternity shoots, unique engagement photos and, thanks to the vibrant colour of the fields, an insta-worthy backdrop for teen or tween photo fun.
Whether it’s mums-to-be, couples or groups of school friends, sunflower photo sessions really do have it all!
My Sunflower Mini Sessions Will Take Place at The Flower Plot, Hook
For the best brightest blooms, I shoot my sunflower mini sessions at The Flower Plot sunflower farm based at Hartley Court Farm in Hartley Wespall, Hook.
This fantastic local family run business has two stunning fields of 6ft and 3ft sunflowers and is utterly amazing!
Professional Photographers like myself, get exclusive access to the field for shoots – which means there’s no general access for the public. This really is a unique opportunity to capture some extra-special photos in these beautifully picturesque fields.
All clients need to pay for entry into the farm. This is £7.50 per adult and includes 5 picked sunflowers for you to use in the photoshoot and to take home afterwards. Children under 16 get free entry but don’t get flowers included. Parking is also free. For those families with small children there is a ¼ mile walk from the car park (which is a little bumpy!) so my top tip is to bring little ones in an all-terrain buggy or wear them in a baby carrier!
My sunflower mini sessions cost £75 and last for 20 minutes. After the session you’ll get access to a private online gallery where you’ll be able to select 4 images from the variety of photos taken in the session. Should you want to select more than 4, these can be purchased for an additional cost.
Unsure What to Wear? Contrast Don’t Clash with the Sunflowers!
With such bright blooms, selecting your outfit for a sunflower session can feel a little daunting! Sunflowers have brilliant yellow petals and deep green stems and leaves. When picking out your outfit try to avoid clashing with these strong colours. Aim to complement the colours of your backdrop – so opt for blue (anything from navy to baby blue) or varying shades of orange and brown. White also works wonderfully to provide a subtle contrast with the bright colours of the sunflowers.
Choosing fabric with texture always looks good on camera so think about wearing denim, chunky knits, or lace. Consider flowy maxi-dresses or add accessories like a wide brimmed sunhat or chunky statement necklace to help your outfit pop!
